EA Games: A Monopolizer.

October 19, 2007

In case any of you want a lesson in Monopoly Economics, this is a perfect structure for designing one. Get a load of some of the quotable little comments this guy makes:

“Going forward that is irrelevant. Gaming will just require potentially a £49.99 box from Tesco made in China with a hard drive, a wi-fi connection and a games engine inside.”

-Games consultant Nick Parker

Mr. Parker, the  question is not whether that kind of engine is possible or a good idea, the question would be, “Who actually owns it?”

Because whoever does, would own the entire market and could dictate however they please. Can you imagine how many EA Games symbols would be plastered all over Gamestops everywhere?

What a hideous idea.
